Swift #766 Holiday Mark II 7x35

The Holiday Mark II was the high end wide angle 7x35 model from Swift.  This model underwent several changes over the years.  Two versions are shown below.  Both are fairly good wide angle binoculars.

Earlier Version Serial No. 4-671703

Mfr: J-B26, J-E45

Date: circa 1967

AFOV: ~77 degrees

TFOV: ~11 degrees, 578 feet at 1000 yards

Eye Relief: ~10mm

Prisms: high index

This earlier version of the Holiday has the focus wheel on the hinge and screw-up metal eyecups.  There is some prism leakage in the image.  The optics have dark amber coatings.  The image appears warmer in comparison to the later version.

Later Version Serial No. 26-831138

swhol2s.jpg (32765 bytes)swhol2f.jpg (34222 bytes)

Mfr: J-B56 (No J-E mark)

Date: circa 1983

AFOV: ~80 degrees

TFOV: ~11.4 degrees, 600 feet at 1000 yards

Eye Relief: ~12mm

Prisms: high index

This version of the Holiday has the focus wheel up front near the bridge and rubber eyecups.  There is a tripod socket located underneath the right half.  It also has some prism leakage, though perhaps less than the earlier version.   The coatings are said to be amber but actually have a blue tint on the objectives.   The image has a cooler color rendition than the earlier version and does not appear to be as neutral.  This version is more comfortable to look through with its better eye relief.  The field of view appears to be practically the same as the earlier version in direct comparison.
