| Sears 6281 7x50Mfr: J-B46, J-E17 Date: circa 1960's AFOV: ~70 degrees TFOV: 10 degrees, 525 feet at 1000 yards Eye Relief: ~15mm Prisms: low index The Sears 6281 is a fairly well made wide angle 7x50, though hampered by serious vignetting from low index prisms. Also, the 10mm deep fixed plastic eyecups reduce the otherwise reasonable 15mm of eye relief. The optics are amber coated. In low light, the image seems to be dimmed by the poor quality prisms but this is not noticeable in bright situations. There is also a fair amount of prism leakage visible. Other than the faults noted, this binocular actually provides decent wide field views. |
