Japanese Binoculars

Commercial Japanese binoculars were marked "Made In Occupied Japan" (MIOJ) from approximately 1947 to 1952.   From November 1959 to around the 1980's they were usually marked with "JL" codes (J and L merged to look like "J-"), J-B indicating the manufacturer of the finished product (and often the optics) and J-E indicating the metalwork or body maker.  A list of J-B codes can be found on websites on the Links page.
