| Carl Schweitzer 7x40Mfr: Unknown, probably Japanese Date: circa 1950's AFOV: ~52 degrees TFOV: ~7.5 degrees Eye Relief: ~15mm Prisms: low index This appears to be an early post WWII Japanese binocular despite its German sounding name. No J- markings are visible. Also, it is not really "Extra Wide Angle" as marked, but has just a moderate field of view. It is fairly well made, with a one piece B&L style body, individual focus eyepieces, and shielded prisms (though they are low index). The coated optics have good image quality, with just a slight amount of prism leakage. |
